HK temples introduce candle vending machines
Tin Hau Temple in Yau Ma Tei and Man Mo Temple in Sheung Wan have introduced Hong Kong's first automated vending machines for religious offerings, aimed at providing a more convenient worship experience.
These machines allow worshippers to easily purchase various items such as incense, amulets, blessing ribbons, and candles. After purchase, receipts can be stamped with a blessing by temple staff and stored in a clear sleeve as a keepsake.
The machines support multiple electronic payment methods, including designated credit cards, Octopus, Alipay, and WeChat Pay.
The interface of machines is available in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and English, helping visitors from around the world understand the purchasing process and product information.
Social media users have shared their experiences, appreciating the ease of worship without needing to interact with strangers.
