Mahavira Hall is located in Xiaoxitian, Xi County, Shanxi Province, 1 kilometer west of the county town of Fenghuang Mountain, formerly known as the Thousand Buddhas Nunnery. It was once a Zen temple in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and was named after the 1,000 statues of Buddha in the Hall.
