Daily average of 1.779 mn people traveled inbound or outbound during summer vacation: National Immigration Administration
Implementing policies such as Mutual Visa Exemption and 144-hour Visa-free Transit allowed tourists from home and abroad to embark on cross-border travel during the summer vacation. The number of inbound and outbound travelers hit a record high, according to CCTV-13.
China Immigration Inspection has facilitated 110 million people traveling inbound or outbound this summer (from July to August), with an average of 1.779 million people per day, an increase of 30% compared to the same period last year. 2.237 million people traveled inbound or outbound on Aug. 24, which marks the highest number during this summer, equivalent to 97.2% of the historical high, according to the National Immigration Administration.
Among them, the number of mainland residents traveling inbound or outbound was 55.381 million, an increase of 28% compared to the same period last year; the number of residents from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan traveling inbound or outbound was 44.032 million, an increase of 27.6% compared to the same period last year; the number of foreigners traveling inbound or outbound was 10.89 million, an increase of 52.8% compared to the same period last year; the number of foreigners (excluding border residents) entering China with visa exemption was 1.957 million, an increase of 117% compared to the same period last year.
Over 5.6 million means of transportation for entries and exits were inspected by China Immigration Inspection, an increase of 32% compared to the same period last year.
