Louise Ho expresses grieving over death of Customs officer in fatal traffic accident
The Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Ms Louise Ho, today (September 3) expresses grave grievance by the death of a Customs officer who died in a fatal traffic accident on his way to work last night (September 2) and extends the deepest condolences to his family.
Cause of the incident is under investigation. The department has been in touch with the family of the deceased officer and will make every effort to help.
The officer was a Senior Customs Officer stationed at the Shenzhen Bay Control Point.
The police received a report around 9 am last night, stating that a private car was seen traveling northbound along the Shenzhen Bay Bridge when it allegedly lost control, crashed into the opposite lane, and plunged into the sea.
Authorities dispatched personnel to the scene, where they found tire tracks and car parts on the road. It is reported that the private car lost control, crossed the line, and then flew over the guardrail into the sea.
The private car was later discovered on the seabed, with the driver trapped inside. He was subsequently rescued by the firefighters but sustained multiple severe injuries. He was unconscious when transported to Tin Shui Wai Hospital and was confirmed dead at 1:30 am.
