MTR launches replica themed train, featuring white front end and 'ball ball handrails' in those days

MTR celebrates its 45th anniversary by launching a replica-themed train, which will debut at Choi Hung Station.

The front end of the train is white and features the old MTR logo, which mimics the design of the first generation of MTR passenger trains.

Classic handrails with a little ball at the end are reinstalled in the train compartments. The way of calling "ball ball handrails" conveys Hong Kong people's fondness for them, for the reduplication effect of "ball" in Cantonese is somehow equivalent to the English word "little" in this context, which means small and adorable.

Burnt orange stickers are applied to the ceiling to recreate the color scheme of MTR train compartments in those days.

The themed train will arrive at Platform 3, Choi Hung Station, at around 1:50 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 22) for its first voyage at 2:00 p.m. and will stop at Choi Hung Station from 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 24) for people to take photos.
