Mak contended that a "home visit" is the best way to have contact with residents and learn more about their daily lives. With the assistance of District Council members, one of the ethnic minority families she visited moved their family of five from a Subdivided unit with high rent and poor environment to a government-subsidized transitional housing unit. Their living environment regarding safety, hygiene, and space has been greatly improved.

She also shared the story of another family that received assistance from District Council members.

The family's husband has been living in Hong Kong for 15 years. He is now engaged in marine engineering and teaches music in his spare time. With the help of the District Council members, they have successfully applied for the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (Non-Chinese Citizens).

Mak hoped that District Council members would continue to have more contacts and exchanges with the residents and live up to their trust and support.
