Caricature | Weight loss drugs

A weight loss drug called Simeglutide is now very popular in the United States, followed by a series of illegal transactions such as counterfeit drug sales, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Originally used to treat diabetes, the drug was later found to be able to help people lose weight with controllable side effects, leading to a surge in demand for the drug in the U.S. and many other countries.

Some well-known figures in the U.S. have publicly supported the drug. Related advertisements have also flooded different social media platforms. It is reported by US media that the market for Simeglutide and similar drugs is expected to exceed US$100 bn by 2030.
