Chief Executive John Lee is about to deliver his third Policy Address in office and held his first district consultation forum in Tai Po today (Aug. 18).
In his concluding remarks, Lee said that today's consultation exercise has given him a sense of the public's unity and love for Hong Kong, and that they have put forward many constructive views. He emphasized that the government attaches great importance to the development of Hong Kong's status as one of the eight major centers under the 14th Five-Year Plan, and in particular, it is important to strengthen our position as a financial center.
Lee also pointed out that, in terms of the talent policy, the government attaches great importance to the cultivation of local talent, and it is necessary to link up the industries and the training units to provide suitable training for talent, to truly contribute to the actual needs of Hong Kong.
"After hearing the suggestion of industrialization of culture, sports and tourism, I agreed that it was necessary to create an environment where all types of talents can fulfill their dreams so that they could create excellent products."
He also emphasized that the government is duty-bound to do its part in this regard and will implement the relevant policies properly.
Finally, Lee praised the people of Hong Kong for their bright ideas. He called on the public to share their ideas with the government, and the government, also, will try its best to make those ideas "bigger, stronger and better" in terms of policies and resources.
