A suspected love killing in Sydney flat involves Chinese students
According to media reports, the bodies of a man and a woman were found in an apartment building in Sydney, Australia, yesterday (Aug. 12), and it was later confirmed that they were both students from China.
The man was found in the garden below the building with his ankles badly broken. A woman's body was found in a flat on the 12th floor of the building with multiple stab wounds.
Police cordoned off the scene for investigation and found a suspected murder weapon near the woman's body. Police said they could not rule out the possibility that the man had jumped from a height.
After an investigation, police learned that the two people, aged 21, were studying at the University of Sydney. CCTV showed the man was walking into the flat with the two women. A brief argument between the two was heard before the incident.
Police have learned that the two victims were in a relationship and suspect that the man committed suicide after stabbing the woman.
In an interview, a resident said he heard 'loud clapping' in the morning of the incident, but did not hear any screaming, and saw police and detectives two hours later. Another resident said he saw the body of the male victim, which was then covered with a tent by police.
Police said it was not possible to determine whether the incident involved domestic violence and the case is still under investigation.
