Law Shuk-pui: Govt attaches importance to evidence as to Mr. Ho's PRH-related case
The May-December romance between a 76-year-old man called Mr. Ho from Hong Kong and a 43-year-old woman (mentioned as Mrs. Ho hereinafter) originally from mainland China has been under heated discussion recently. Rumor has it that Mrs. Ho owns properties in mainland China, which may not comply with the assets limit of the application for public rental housing (PRH).
Law Shuk-pui, Director of Housing, said in an interview that the case is under investigation and that reports or words of the people involved might not be true. She emphasized that the government focuses on evidence when dealing with the case and that those whose names are not on the PRH tenant list can not live in the PRH for a long time.
Law contended that she can not disclose more information since relevant cases are still under investigation. She reminded the public that media reports, internet messages, and even the words of the people involved may not be the truth because some people just tend to attract more traffic.
As to whether Mr. Ho's living in the public rental housing of Mrs. Ho violates the regulations, she pointed out that the regulations of PRH tenants are clear and that those whose names are not on the PRH tenant list can not live in the PRH for a long time. She reiterated that the government attaches great importance to facts and evidence despite difficulties in the verification of PRH tenants.
