Rosanna Law: Rate of PRH rent increase no more than 10%, affordable to tenants
The Director of Housing, Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, said in a television program today that even if the rent of public rental housing (PRH) increases, the rate of increase will not exceed 10%.
The Housing Authority will review the rent of public rental housing in the middle of this year in accordance with the mechanism.
She pointed out that at present, about 40% of the tenants' monthly rents are less than HK$2,000, and some of them are even a few tens of dollars, and it is believed that the rate of increase in rents will be affordable to the tenants.
Law pointed out that the adjustment of PRH rents would take into account factors such as changes in household income, which could reflect the actual situation. She also said that many industries are experiencing recruitment difficulties, and we cannot simply assume that people's incomes have dropped sharply just because the capital and investment markets are in the doldrums, thinking that the economic situation is uncertain and the impact on PRH tenants is limited.
