Siobhan Haughey's remarkable achievements: A look at her Olympic success

Hong Kong's swimmer Siobhan Bernadette Haughey won a bronze medal in the women's 200-meter freestyle final at the Paris Olympics at a time of 1:54.55.

This achievement marks her consecutive appearance on the podium for two Olympics, accumulating a total of three Olympic medals, the most by any athlete from Hong Kong.

Siobhan is set to compete in the 100-meter freestyle, aiming for her fourth Olympic medal.

In the semifinals held today (July 31) at 2:30 AM Hong Kong time, Hoh raced in the fourth lane of the first heat, finishing first in her group with a time of 52.64 seconds, successfully advancing to the final scheduled for tomorrow (August 1) at 2:30 AM, with hopes of adding another medal for Hong Kong.

In recent years, Hoh has excelled in swimming, winning gold medals in the women's 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. She also secured silver medals in the women's 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Siobhan Bernadette Haughey's Record Highlights

First Athlete

At the end of 2021, Hoh won gold in the women's 200-meter freestyle at the Short Course World Championships with a time of 1:50.31, becoming the first swimmer from Hong Kong to break a world record. She still holds the world record for short courses (as opposed to the Olympic long course).

Three Medals

Following her silver medals in the women's 100 and 200-meter freestyle at the Tokyo Olympics, she added a bronze in the 200-meter freestyle at this year's Olympics, becoming the first athlete from Hong Kong to win three Olympic medals.

A total of Six Medals

At last year's Asian Games in Hangzhou, Hoh won a total of six medals: two gold, one silver, and three bronze, making her the athlete with the most medals won by a Hong Kong representative in a single edition of the Asian Games.
