
During this year's May Day holiday (April 29 to May 3), a total of 491,968 inbound visitors arrived in Macao, averaging nearly 100,000 per day, and hotel occupancy rate reached 85 %, exceeding industry expectations.
According to the Public Security Police Force, the number of inbound tourists in Macao on April 29 and April 30 set new daily records after the epidemic, reaching 109,196 and 133,911 respectively.
Fan Mengjie, president of the Macau Tourist Guide Association, said the number of visitors and hotel occupancy rates for this year's May Day holiday were better than expected.
Based on previous experience, this year's summer holiday and the National Day holiday will see a higher number of visitors, he added.
The May Day holiday this year saw a higher proportion of travelers coming from and through Hong Kong. According to the data, the number of inbound visitors at various ports in Macao is 99,013 at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, 42,100 at Taipa Ferry Terminal, 21,991 at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and 25,659 at Macao International Airport.
