Smart Talk | HK local & international young talents: Is patriotic education really "brainwashing"?

Ever since the social unrest in 2019, discussions on politics have deeply infiltrated into Hong Kong’s daily life and campus has become a "battleground of propaganda". Recently, there has been a discriminative video released by the Campus TV of Hong Kong University Students’ Union against mainland Chinese students, which has aroused great controversies among its audience. In this episode, DotDotNews invites Alris, a HK local student from HKUST, and RJ, a Philippine PhD candidate at HKBU to join our discussion.

With their experience of studying and living in their home cities and abroad, both Alris and RJ have international perspectives on various current issues. What are their reactions after watching the biased video? What do they think of the self-identification issues of many Hongkongers? Do they think patriotic education is necessary? Watch the video for more details.
