The 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting will be held in Shenzhen from Nov. 18 to 19, when political and business leaders, media and representatives from other fields from multiple economies will participate. To ensure the safe, stable and orderly operation of relevant ports during the summit, Deputy Commissioner (Control and Enforcement) of Customs and Excise Mark Woo led officers on Nov. 5 to hold in-depth exchanges with the leadership of Shenzhen Customs on implementing the two sides' point-to-point liaison mechanism arrangements, clearance coordination work and various security matters.
Hong Kong Customs said in a social media post today (Nov. 8) that it will flexibly deploy port manpower during the summit, make targeted enforcement deployments, strengthen inspections, combat all kinds of illegal cross-boundary activities and prevent other security risks from flowing into Shenzhen. At the same time, to cope with the challenges to passenger and cargo flows brought by the meeting, Hong Kong Customs will closely monitor conditions at various ports, respond in a timely manner, make every effort to ensure smooth clearance operations, and work hand in hand with relevant mainland authorities to maintain order at the ports.
