A 42-year-old man died Sunday night (Oct. 25) after falling from the rooftop of a Mong Kok tenement building as officers from the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) raided a flat inside.
Police said a passer-by called at 9:28 pm on Oct. 25 to report someone falling from a building at 371–395 Reclamation Street. Officers and paramedics found the man unconscious at the scene. He was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The raid was part of an anti-crime operation. OCTB officers, known locally as "O Ji," forced their way into a unit in the tong lau. Police sources said the man ran to the rooftop in an apparent attempt to escape and fell after losing his footing.
More than 20 people were taken from the premises for questioning. Both the cause of the fall and the man's cause of death remain under investigation.
