Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, went on sale today (Oct. 23). A large number of Apple fans arrived at the Apple Store in Tsim Sha Tsui around 6 am this morning, waiting for the new phone to be available.
One customer, a loyal Apple fan who has used iPhones, iPods, Apple TVs, and other Apple products, was fortunate enough to successfully purchase two iPhone Duo 1TB phones, one white and one black. He described the iPhone Duo as long-awaited, and its unique dual-screen design would make handling many paperwork tasks much easier. Although he could make several thousand dollars in profit by reselling it, he still chose to use both himself.
Mr. Chan successfully purchased an iPhone Duo 1TB, as he needed to upgrade his phone and planned to use the new one himself. He wasn't worried about the foldable phone being easily damaged; "If it breaks, I'll just buy a new one." Regarding the resale value of the new phone being several thousand Hong Kong dollars higher than the original price, he felt the amount was not high and preferred to keep it for himself.
DotDotNews reporters noticed many international speculators waiting outside the Apple Store, hoping to be among the first to purchase the new phone. An African buyer successfully placed an order for an iPhone Duo 512GB for HK$23,000.
An unnamed merchant at Sincere Podium told reporters that only the mainland's version of the iPhone Duo can use the corresponding eSIM, while the Hong Kong version is only available in the local market and the Middle East, with limited demand. In addition, the current supply is sufficient, and they are worried that the price will "plummet" soon, so they dare not buy in large quantities at present.
