World snooker champion Kyren Wilson has become a Hong Kong resident after obtaining status through the city's Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, adding to a growing list of top players who have chosen to settle in Hong Kong.
Wilson, the 2024 World Snooker Championship winner, announced the move on social media and shared images indicating he is in the process of applying for a Hong Kong Identity Card, including a receipt for his application. He described Hong Kong as one of his favorite places, saying he has built many cherished memories in the city over the years and is eager to create more.
He also publicly thanked Hong Kong's Director of Immigration, Benson Kwok, for assistance in helping facilitate his relocation.
Wilson, from Northamptonshire in the UK, turned professional in 2010. He claimed his first ranking title at the Shanghai Masters in 2015 and went on to win the sport's biggest prize in 2024, defeating Welsh player Jak Jones 18–14 in the world championship final. He has now won 10 ranking titles in total.
