The Hong Kong sailing team enjoyed a double success at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games today (Oct. 1), adding one silver and one bronze medal to the city's tally in the women's 49er FX and men's 49er classes.
In the women's 49er FX event, which featured four competing teams, HK representatives Tiffany Mak and Emily Grace Polson delivered consistently solid performances across nine races. After discarding their worst race result, they finished with 16 points to take second place behind gold medalists Japan. The Chinese national team and India finished third and fourth, respectively.
In the men's 49er event, contested by six teams, HK duo Akira Sakai and Russell Aylsworth crossed the line in third place to capture the bronze medal. The Chinese national team and India claimed the gold and silver medals.
