Since their launch in May, Lai Ka-ying has remained in orbit for more than four months together with mission commander Zhu Yangzhu and astronaut Zhang Zhiyuan, during which the crew has continued to push ahead with space science experiments, on-orbit technology verification, and space-science education sessions from orbit.
Around the Mid-Autumn Festival, the three Shenzhou-23 crew members stayed at the space station, observing Earth through the porthole. "Through the porthole, what I miss most is the lights of thousands of homes across China, and what I yearn for most is the full moon that illuminates Hong Kong," Lai said.
Zhu Yangzhu said that the Chinese space station has stayed closely connected with the motherland and its people during the Mid-Autumn Festival. It is also the second time he has spent the festival in orbit. Zhang Zhiyuan, meanwhile, noted that although the mission has meant less family reunion, the crew have held fast as a team to complete their tasks, and he conveyed his longing for his family.
The Shenzhou-23 crew also extended Mid-Autumn greetings to people across the country, wishing the nation prosperity and stability, and wishing everyone a happy Mid-Autumn Festival and family happiness.
