A light moment from the BRICS leaders' meeting has gone viral online after an Indian official was seen snacking during speeches at a high-level session in New Delhi.

On September 13 (local time), the second-stage meeting of the 18th BRICS leaders' gathering took place in India's capital. During the session, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was delivering a formal address when India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, seated behind him, was captured on camera repeatedly eating nuts. In the footage circulating online, Jaiswal appears largely disengaged from the speech, continuing to snack and at one point licking his fingers after finishing.

Jaiswal was not the only one caught eating during the proceedings. India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval was also filmed eating nuts while Russian President Vladimir Putin was speaking, according to the same viral clips.

The relaxed snacking contrasted sharply with the serious tone of the international meeting and prompted mixed reactions online. Some commenters said the behavior was understandable, arguing that officials may not have time to eat amid packed summit schedules. Others criticized it as inappropriate and disrespectful to the leaders speaking.
