Jing Yidan, a veteran television presenter and former China Central Television (CCTV) anchor, has died at the age of 71, according to an obituary posted by her daughter on 13 September.
Jing was a senior broadcasting professional at China Media Group and was widely known for hosting flagship programs including Focus Interview (Jiaodian Fangtan), Oriental Horizon (Dongfang Shikong) and Touching China (Gandong Zhongguo). She also served as chief host for live broadcasts of major national events, including the handover ceremonies for Hong Kong and Macao.
Public records cited in the report show that Jing graduated from the Beijing Broadcasting Institute (now Communication University of China) and went on to work at CCTV, where she hosted a range of programs such as Economic 30 Minutes, Yidan Topics, Live China, News Probe, and Touching China, among others. She was a three-time recipient of China's "Golden Microphone Award," one of the country's best-known honors for program hosts.
The obituary said Jing suffered a sudden acute cerebral hemorrhage in Harbin, her hometown, in June 2026 and was later transferred to Beijing for hospital treatment, where she remained until her death. In July, her online account reportedly pinned a message urging the public not to believe or spread rumors, after online posts about her health attracted attention.
Wang also expressed gratitude to medical staff in both locations for their timely and professional care, and thanked members of the public for their concern and support over the past months.
Jing retired from CCTV on 30 April 2015 after recording that day's episode of Focus Interview.
