The Belt & Road General Chamber of Commerce has launched an online tour called "100 Hong Kong Stories of the Belt and Road" in honour of the Belt and Road Summit. Today (Sept. 6), Bian Zhuoqun, vice-president of Ant Group and president of blockchain business at Ant Digital, shared how Ant Digital Technologies has taken root in Hong Kong and supports countries along the Belt and Road.
Bian said Ant Digital Technologies has focused on end-to-end AI and blockchain, with strong R&D and practical application capability, rich service scenarios, and a technology ecosystem with global reach. The company uses digital technology to help businesses around the world upgrade intelligently. In 2025, with support from the HKSAR Government, Ant Digital Technologies became a "Key Enterprise Partner" and set up its overseas headquarters in Hong Kong. It has actively joined Hong Kong's financial innovation efforts, following the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's (HKMA) "Fintech 2030" direction, including AI and tokenisation. The company also joined the HKMA's GenA.I. Sandbox, and co-established an "AI + Web3 Joint Laboratory" with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, so that breakthrough AI and blockchain work can be tested in Hong Kong first before scaling globally.
Bian added that Ant Digital Technologies works with local service providers along the Belt and Road to help build secure and convenient digital infrastructure for local financial institutions. In Kazakhstan, the birthplace of the Belt and Road Initiative, Ant Digital Technologies has helped local banks launch cross-border trade digital services for both international and domestic clients, aiming to lead the way on Central Asia's "Digital Silk Road." AI and blockchain are central to this cooperation, aligning closely with what the company has long been developing. Its blockchain-related granted patents have ranked first globally for consecutive years; its technology platform supports more than 1 billion accounts; and its mature products in identity security and mobile development have partnered with over 300 collaborators worldwide, serving more than 10,000 enterprise customers.
Looking ahead, Bian said Ant Digital Technologies will continue to build in Hong Kong and support the Belt and Road through secure, trustworthy, and inclusive digital infrastructure.
