Under Trump, the US has become a mafia state, a dysfunctional democracy, and the most distrusted country on the planet.
Trump owns the word "untrustworthy". It is widely known that even the mafia in New York stopped doing business with Trump on real estate deals because they found him totally untrustworthy. Trump is still Trump, warts and all. New York hated him then and hates him now.
The Orange Ogre doesn't negotiate; he dictates. To him, the idea of mutual benefit is an alien concept. He plays a zero-sum game. With 72% of Canadian eggs in the American basket, Trump believes he has Canada over a barrel. Signing an agreement with Trump the bad faith actor, is meaningless, as all his contracts are "written in pencil", erasable on a whim.
Suddenly, Canada finds itself in the global spotlight. Many tariff-tired countries hail Canada as a world hero for standing up to a gangster. Thank God Carney is at the wheel, and not pretty face juvenile Justin Trudeau. Carney, for a change, refuses to grovel and butter up a brainfart bully.
In a flash, gone is the vaunted Special Relationship between Canada and America. Trump never feels special about anything except Epstein-class loose women hitting on his G-spot or downing gallons of his Diet Coke. Britain should grow a pair and stop cuddling up to Trump. The Canada melodrama has exposed the myth of special relationships in the Trump era. Across continents, people see themselves as Canadians in distress—all sick and tired of the blond buffoon.
I suspect that Trump is going all out to subjugate Canada. If he succeeds in annexing his northern neighbor, an impossible goal, he will instantly be elevated to God-like status and win himself an improbable third term.
But Canada is Carney-tough, and hitting Trump where it hurts. It is targeting the border states and the Red states, dollar-for-dollar, in the tariff war. It is entirely possible that Canada may cost Trump his presidency, as the economic pain spreads across the American mid-west.
It is a blasphemy for Trump to call himself a Christian. What he has done will make Jesus weep. Once again, Canada proves that Trump is a TACO—"Trump always chickens out". When the going gets tough, Trump will be the first to back down. He has no patience or strategy for the long game. All he wants is an easy win and an early exit with the bragging rights to flatter his base.
It is truly baffling how America can make the same mistake twice by re-electing Trump. Unfortunately, he has turned his MAGA base into a cult, and cults are notoriously impervious to reason or reality.
Canada and the world are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping that Red states will turn Blue. Already nearly two-thirds of Americans have come out against Trump's trade war against Canada, with only 20% in favor. Trump accuses Canada of being a parasite on the US economy, when in truth American border states will go dry and cold without Canadian oil and gas. Lake America is where Trump goes to drown.
Canadians are massively boycotting US products, Trump's trade war has united Canadians from coast to coast. Prior to Trump's latest salvo, Canada was facing disunity on two fronts—from Parti Quebecois itching for another referendum on its separation from the Canadian federation. And in the West, 40% of Albertans were also leaning towards independence. But Trump has changed the political calculus. The national unity that has eluded Canada for so long is finally hand-delivered by the moron from New York. Canadians have thrown their weight behind their warrior prime minister. Internal rumblings can wait. Canada must go toe-to-toe with the ugly beast from the jungle.
For Trump, this rupture with his northern neighbor may be his final undoing. Trump has dodged the bullet twice in impeachment proceedings. He may not be third-time lucky post-November.
The Epstein scandal has failed to dislodge him. The Iran war hasn't tipped the scale against him either. But Canada may be the last straw, when mid-western states are hurt to the core.
Talking to Trump is like talking to a toddler. Canada is leading the fight to derisk, if not decouple from the big bad bully. The world needs a wave of blue to sweep the orange wig off his throne in the mid-terms. Instead of being down on its knees, Canada is elbows up—from the East coast to the West. An "American ally" is a geopolitical oxymoron. It is time to toss Trump out like an overcooked pasta. For he has overstayed in the hot kitchen.
