In Luoyang, we followed Ronald Sokolski back to Luoyang Foreign Languages School, where he once taught. Years ago, his US$5,000 donation helped Yin Yuzhen plant trees and turn desert into forest. What moved us most, though, was the other "forest" he has grown through teaching—a family of former students, colleagues, and friends who traveled from across China and around the world just to see him, sometimes simply for a hug. When he told us, "They are not my forest—they are my family," we understood how far sincerity can travel across time, borders, and language.
