Keisei Takahashi, 25, was arrested by Japanese police on Monday (Aug 24), on suspicion of non-consensual sexual acts against a female high school student on a packed evening commuter train. He reportedly admitted to the allegations, saying he acted "to satisfy his sexual urges."
The assault took place on the evening of June 30 on a southbound Odakyu Railway service in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture. Takahashi allegedly targeted a second-year high school student and carried out the abuse for more than 20 minutes, with the carriage so crowded that passengers could barely move.
Investigators said the case came to light about 10 days later, when the victim reported to police. Detectives identified Takahashi after reviewing CCTV footage from stations along the route.
Police arrested him outside home on the morning of Aug 24 and referred the case to local prosecutors on Aug 26. Investigators have seized his smartphone for analysis and are looking into whether similar incidents occurred on the same rail line.
According to official records, Takahashi is self-employed, but he describes himself online as an actor and filmmaker.
