Canadian voice actor Peter Cullen, best known for voicing the iconic "Transformers" character Optimus Prime, died at his home in Los Angeles on Aug. 26 local time. He was 85.
Cullen became widely known for voicing Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots in "Transformers". He first lent his voice to the character in the 1984 animated series and later returned to the role in seven Hollywood films released between 2007 and 2023, as well as other spin-off productions.
Beyond Optimus Prime, Cullen began voicing Eeyore in Disney's "Winnie the Pooh" from the late 1980s. He also voiced KARR, the villainous car in "Knight Rider", and provided vocal effects for the Predator in the 1987 film "Predator" and the roar of King Kong in the 1976 film "King Kong".
