The aide is a former bone cancer patient who has claimed that her miraculous recovery was made possible by an experimental treatment she received thanks to a bill signed by Trump years ago. Her official title is Special Assistant to the President and Executive Assistant to the President, and she reportedly spends more time with Trump than any other staff member. She was even said to have hidden with Trump inside an airport catering vehicle to secretly transfer from Air Force One to a military aircraft.
Harper has direct access to Trump's social‑media accounts and posts on his behalf after taking dictation from him on her own phone. She is also known to carry a portable photocopier everywhere, so she can print out documents for the president on the spot – earning her the nickname human photocopier. She is regarded as a gatekeeper, not only handling sensitive materials around Trump but also filtering the information he sees, thereby directly influencing his views and policy stances on various issues.
Democratic Senator Ossoff commented: "See, he doesn't want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar." He also slammed the notion that the nation's president is being controlled by the subjective "filtered and printed content" of an unelected assistant who has not received congressional consent, calling such an operational model deeply concerning.
A New York Times reporter once wrote in a book that Trump believes Harper is the only one who loves him unconditionally – just like his wife and children – while other aides would eventually abandon him, but Harper would never leave him.
In response to the criticism, a White House spokesperson stressed that Harper is one of the most loyal and hardworking assistants on President Trump's team.
