Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi responded to US President Donald Trump's remarks regarding the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that both the opening and closing of the strait can only be controlled by Iran.
Posting on social media, Gharibabadi said Trump had threatened that after Iran's defeat, he would soon declare the Strait of Hormuz US territory. However, the strait cannot be seized by a tweet, an aircraft carrier, an executive order, or a speech. "The Strait of Hormuz was, is, and will be Iran's. The opening and closing of this strait can only be controlled by Iran."
Gharibabadi emphasized that Iran neither fears threats nor yields to shows of force. The United States must accept reality. To date, it has already suffered a strategic fiasco. As long as the US refuses to accept reality and abandons its delusions, Iran will continue to impose a blockade (on the Strait of Hormuz).
