As the New Huanggang Port prepares for its official opening, preliminary testing and preparatory work are in full swing. The Immigration Department, together with the Police Force, Customs and Excise Department, Department of Health and Government Property Agency, conducted a joint inter-departmental drill yesterday (August 11) involving around 50 personnel at the port's arrival and departure halls and the "five-in-one" vehicle lanes.

Key items included simulating the new "collaborative inspection and joint clearance" clearance, handling clearance procedures for various emergencies and abnormal situations, testing contingency plans, and strengthening inter-departmental command coordination and emergency response capabilities.

Hong Kong Customs said on social media that in addition to normal vehicle clearance procedures, the drill also simulated special scenarios that could occur during vehicle entry and exit, including inspection system failures and vehicles needing to reverse out of the "joint one-stop" lanes to turn back. The new Huanggang Port adopts an innovative and efficient "five-in-one" vehicle inspection procedure. This drill has helped departments become more familiar with the new clearance process and strengthened communication and collaboration during emergencies, ensuring smooth, orderly and safe port operations.
