The WTT Yokohama Champions tournament entered its final day today (Aug. 9), with the men's and women's singles semifinals and finals taking place. In the second women's singles semifinal, an all‑Chinese national team showdown saw Chen Xingtong defeat Kuai Man 4‑1 to book her place in the final, where she will face Japan's Miwa Harimoto this afternoon for the title.
The set scores were 4‑11, 12‑10, 12‑10, 14‑12, 8‑11, 11‑6. In her post‑match interview, Chen said she had some lucky shots in the match and felt her overall form was better. Looking ahead to the afternoon final, she admitted that she has faced her opponent Miwa Harimoto many times before, but admitted that her head‑to‑head record is not ideal. She added that she has nothing to hold back for the evening showdown and will give it her all.
In the other women's singles semifinal held earlier, Wang Yidi fought through six sets but fell 2‑4 to Japan's top player Miwa Harimoto.
