FIFA President Gianni Infantino allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a female UEFA employee while serving as the organization's secretary general, and UEFA paid the woman a six-figure sum after she left the organization, according to a report by Britain's Daily Telegraph on Aug. 7.

The report alleged that Infantino had an inappropriate relationship with the woman during his tenure as UEFA secretary general and promoted her during that period.

After the woman left UEFA, she reportedly received a six-figure payment, while UEFA also covered the cost of her MBA studies at a business school.

The revelations came just one week after a planned sale of stakes pursued by Infantino fell through.

Infantino joined UEFA in 2000 and served there for 16 years before stepping down in February 2016 to become FIFA president.

Infantino met his current wife through football. The couple married in 2001 and have four daughters.
