The Hong Kong Journalists Association (HKJA) has finally completed nominations for its new Executive Committee. However, the leadership transition has been far from smooth.

According to media reports, the association's executive committee election, originally scheduled for mid-June this year, had to be postponed after the number of candidates fell short of the minimum required under its constitution. It was only recently that the HKJA managed to secure the minimum number of candidates, with the election now set to take place on August 8.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the five candidates in this year's election include incumbent chairperson Selina Cheng, who currently freelances for several foreign media outlets; RFI journalist Mak Yin-ting; British national Danny Vincent, who recently left the BBC; Channel WE photojournalist So Chun-yeung; and Marc Gerard Progin, a retired Swiss watchmaker who describes himself as a freelance photojournalist.
