An 18-year-old student described the incident to Reuters.

"At first, I didn't realize it was gunfire. I thought someone was setting off firecrackers or banging on something. There were so many loud bangs. Then it went quiet. Then it started again," the student said.

After the school shooting, faculty and staff were visibly shaken and hugged each other for comfort. (Reuters)

The shooting took place at Debsirin Nonthaburi School, located northwest of Bangkok.

According to local authorities, the school had about 3,100 students and 147 teachers during the 2025 academic year.
