The reports state that the Argentine Football Association (AFA) has disagreements with the event organizers and has already activated a "Plan B". If the China tour is called off, Argentina will look for new venues and opponents, with Uruguay being the top choice for a friendly match. The AFA has set a deadline for the Asian event organizers to confirm the next steps.
Earlier, ESPN had reported that the Argentina national team had finalized plans for three friendly matches during the September-October international window, with two of them to be held in China. Subsequent Argentine media reports suggested that if the China tour goes ahead, the Chinese national team could be one of the opponents, with India also being considered. India is seen as a highly lucrative market for Lionel Messi, capable of generating substantial commercial revenue.
