Ariana Grande told fans in Chicago on the evening of Aug. 3 (local time) that her decision to step away from the public eye was not made on impulse but had been planned long in advance and reached after careful consideration.
Grande said the adjustment to her career plans was a well-thought-out decision rather than a spontaneous one.
The singer's representative had previously told media outlets that Grande hopes to conclude her current tour in a healthy and positive way before taking a break from work. She also announced that she would withdraw from her previously scheduled role in the musical "Sunday in the Park with George", which had been set to run in London next year.
Addressing recent public discussion about her physical condition, Grande stressed the importance of maintaining personal boundaries. She said that while the concern expressed by fans and commentators came from a place of goodwill, people sometimes simply need to rest.
Grande added that outside "noise" would not change either her decision or reality, saying that the love of her fans and the experience of creating together remain the most genuine source of strength. She also said she is looking forward to completing the Eternal Sunshine tour.
