Migration is normally not a red-hot issue. But a tidal wave of Indian immigrants, legal and illegal, has swamped and alarmed Western receiving societies.
This migration feels like an invasion. Their sheer numbers alone are enough to upset the equilibrium, made more disturbing by their intrusive public behavior.
In Canada, Indian immigrants now top the charts as its largest ethnic group. Grown from a small, marginalized ethnic subset into a three-million strong demographic force, the Indian immigrant population has skyrocketed by 326% in a 10-year period. Online applications assisted by Air India move the numbers even faster. Indian immigrants have sent 22 of their own into the Canadian parliament, with two in the cabinet. They have found their political voice where the politically apathetic Chinese have none.
India is notorious for exporting fake students. On top of these, there are 600,000 illegal Indian migrants in the system, each one enjoying a lengthy appeal process as asylum seekers. The Canadian Immigration Appeal Board is not designed to handle abuses on an industrial scale.
Many phony Indian asylum seekers come from the wealthier states such as Punjab who can afford to pay for the travel costs. But they are pure economic migrants. As a liberal democracy, India should be automatically ruled out as a country eligible for claiming refugee status.
Next to English and French, Punjabi is now the third largest language spoken in Canada. The old sleepy Canada is no more, with quiet commuter towns turned into "Little Punjabs".
Their peculiar values and living habits have turned parts of Canada into third-world communities. Many Indians publicly bathe in lakes. On Ontario's Wasaga Beach, they dig holes in the sand, pop a squat and bury their poop where kids play. In rural India, with no access to public toilets, that may be understandable, but importing their disgusting public hygiene habits to Canada is unacceptable. Their freedom is Canada's misery.
In America, three quarters of H-1B visas go to India-born workers, with over 80% fake cases. In India, 40% of the young are unemployed and dismissed by its chief justice as "cockroaches". In response, millions of them have formed their own Cockroach Janta Party, in a prickly poke at the ruling party.
There is another kicker: the Indians are notorious for systematic cheating in examinations and leaking of exam papers to the highest bidder—triggering street protests that have toppled its minister of education.
Indians relish beating the system. Getting caught is just bad luck, not a disgrace.
I blame Justin Trudeau for much of the problem, he being a blind and naïve guru-worshipper who love all things Indian. On his official visit to India, he inappropriately sported an outlandish guru garb. As prime minister, he had never outgrown his teenager fad. He inducted two Sikhs into his cabinet, turban and all. This shallow and showy leader strutted around like a Hollywood star. Good only for appearances, Trudeau was useless as a problem solver who enjoyed public display of his private teenage fads.
Indians eat rules for breakfast. A visa officer friend of mine who had served in New Delhi recalled that one day, sitting in front of him was an elderly man sponsored by his son in Canada. But he noticed something odd. For a man in his sixties, the man's face was youthful and wrinkle-free, in sharp contrast to his grey hair. Without warning, the officer approached the man from behind and snatched the wig off his head, revealing his jet-black hair--so bold and inventive in gaming the system.
According to the officer, fake documents are cheaply available. For the price of a meal, you could get yourself a death certificate, a birth certificate, a divorce paper and fake academic papers. Cheating is an Indian cottage industry, and a nation-wide epidemic.
Canada is famous for its tolerance of cultural diversity. But immigrants are expected to meet locals halfway. Instead, Indian immigrants behave like noisy guests who have taken over from their humble hosts.
In mass migration, the bad apples often sneak in. Extortionist gangs remote-controlled from India are terrorizing the local business community. Sleepy towns like Surrey B.C now wake up to fear and gun violence. White shop owners who refuse to pay Indian extortionists have their shopfronts shot up. Canada now feels utterly unCanadian. Multiculturalism has lost its shine; it now feels apocalyptic, thanks to the Indian immigrant menace.
It is no longer the Canada I used to know, the famous Canadian polite stand-off now giving way to Indian sharp elbows.
India exports its troublesome people where China exports manufactured goods.
With no relief in sight, the only answer is mass deportations. Canada's Express Entry System should be rebooted into its Express Departure System.
