A special owners' meeting of Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po was held at 11 a.m. on Sunday (July 19), with the agenda covering several post-incident and financial matters of major concern to owners.

As Wang Fuk Court owners are currently living across different districts of Hong Kong, the meeting was arranged with the Tai Po Community Centre as the main venue to facilitate participation. Broadcast systems were also set up at community halls in Kai Tak, Wah Kwai and Tin Fai Road, allowing the meeting to be conducted simultaneously at multiple locations.

The meeting was chaired by the Owners' Corporation's management agent, Hop On Management Company Limited.

Key items on the agenda included updates on the handover process from the former Owners' Corporation, the launch of the refund of remaining funds from the building maintenance project, as well as follow-up progress regarding construction insurance and estate insurance.

Hop On Management reported the latest progress on the refund of the remaining maintenance project funds at the meeting.

According to the latest figures, as of July 15, the team had successfully issued 1,732 refund cheques to eligible owners of units in the estate. The total amount of refunded maintenance project funds exceeded HK$110 million.

To ensure all eligible owners can receive their refunds in full, Hop On Management launched follow-up work on July 4, proactively contacting owners who had not yet successfully collected their refund cheques.

For households that had not received their refunds, Hop On Management arranged assistance through a "one social worker per household" approach, with support from district councillors in various districts.

The meeting also included an update on the latest situation of Wang Chi House at Wang Fuk Court.

Resident Mr. Wong and his wife said they had signed a letter accepting the acquisition proposal and planned to purchase a new subsidised sale flat. They expressed satisfaction with the government's post-incident arrangements and hoped to learn more details through the owners' meeting.

Ms. Lai, a resident of Wang Tai House who attended the meeting, said discussions had begun on key issues including insurance, repair works, remaining funds and contract reports.

She said the government's rehousing options for residents who sold their property rights, including "flat-for-flat" arrangements and cash compensation, were comprehensive and provided residents with choices while addressing different needs.

Regarding the meeting arrangements, she said the overall process was smooth and the venue selection was convenient for residents.
