SEVENTEEN member MINGYU appeared at a promotional event at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui on the morning of July 11, drawing thousands of fans — with some camping out overnight as early as midnight.
Multiple social media posts showed that around 500 fans had already queued along Canton Road outside the shopping mall in the early hours, equipped with fans and folding stools. Security personnel were on-site to maintain order.
When the mall opened in the morning, crowds surged inside to secure prime viewing positions across multiple floors. However, an unexpected incident occurred amid the packed wait: some fans online reported a foul odor, speculating that someone may have had a bowel accident in the cramped conditions. A staff member was later seen spraying air freshener into the air to help dissipate the smell, according to posts from those at the scene.
Neither the event organizers nor Mingyu's agency has commented on the incident. The promotional event proceeded as scheduled, with the singer greeting fans and taking part in brand activities.
