On July 9, Nanning City, Guangxi Province, held its third press conference on flood control and disaster relief. The conference reported that as of 11:00 am that day, the breach of the Liulan Reservoir in Nanning had resulted in 26 deaths (5 of whom are still unidentified) and 7 people missing. Including the Liulan Reservoir breach, Guangxi has a total of 39 deaths and 9 missing persons. Due to the time required for technical identification of some of the deceased, there may be an overlap between the deceased and the missing persons.
Recently, many areas in Guangxi have experienced continuous heavy rainfall, leading to flooding. On July 6, the Liulan Reservoir in Hengzhou City overflowed and breached its banks.
