US President Donald Trump on July 1 shared an AI-generated video online criticizing several prominent Hollywood actors, claiming they suffer from what the video calls "Trump Derangement Syndrome." Those mentioned include Julia Roberts, Robert De Niro, Whoopi Goldberg and Edward Norton.
In the video, Trump appears as "Doctor Trump" and, in a soothing tone resembling a pharmaceutical commercial, claims to have a "treatment" for people suffering from the fictional condition.
The video then features AI-generated testimonials from US entertainer Rosie O'Donnell and actors Whoopi Goldberg and Robert De Niro, each describing what are portrayed as symptoms of the condition.
AI-generated versions of Julia Roberts, Edward Norton and others also appear.
The AI-generated Robert De Niro says: "I had no idea how much this was affecting my life. My work has slowed down. I'm hardly recognizable anymore. I just needed help. I couldn't eat. I couldn't sleep. Constantly angry. I made everyone miserable around me."
The AI-generated Julia Roberts says: "I feel like I've aged 20 years in the two years," adding that she has begun to "worry about my future."
At the end of the video, Trump offers what he describes as a remedy: "Turn off fake news. Say your prayers and, if you ever feel anxious, just have a Diet Coke like me and you’re gonna see a remarkable difference in your life."
