Reports have been circulating that pop superstar Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce, are set to hold what has been dubbed a "wedding of the century" at Madison Square Garden on July 3, with celebrations expected to continue into the early hours of July 4.
According to multiple media reports, including The New York Times, New York City authorities confirmed they had received applications for street-use permits and road closures around Madison Square Garden.
Sources familiar with the plans said more than 1,000 guests are expected to attend, with a tightly scheduled series of events. A rehearsal is reportedly planned for July 2, when around 100 guests are expected to enter through a dedicated entrance. Some reports described the gathering as a more intimate reception for about 100 attendees.
The reported wedding schedule for July 3 includes guest arrivals in the afternoon, followed by a cocktail reception, the wedding ceremony and a grand banquet lasting until after midnight. Law enforcement sources said guests would reportedly drive into a tented area before entering the venue through a screened private entrance.
US media reported that security is a key consideration for Swift, who has previously faced stalkers and terrorist threats. Madison Square Garden is said to have an experienced security team that works closely with the New York Police Department and US federal counterterrorism agencies.
The venue's fully enclosed, windowless design and tightly controlled access are also reported to help prevent paparazzi photography, drone surveillance and long-range camera shots, minimizing the risk of details from the event being exposed.
According to the reports, Madison Square Garden's high level of privacy is considered one of the few venues capable of meeting Swift's reported requirement for a completely private wedding. Swift is also said to have a longstanding relationship with the venue and its management, having performed there eight times and being highly familiar with the facility.
However, reports surrounding the alleged wedding remain inconsistent and have not been officially confirmed by Swift's team. Some fans have suggested the circulating information could be a deliberate diversion.
