McDonald's Hong Kong has announced the launch of its Chocolate McGriddles series, the first of its kind in the world and developed by its local team. Available from July 1 to July 3, the limited-time menu features the Chocolate McGriddles and the McGriddles Deluxe Breakfast, both served all day at all restaurants. During the promotional period, customers who purchase any value meal can also upgrade their medium fries to a Hash Brown free of charge.
The Chocolate McGriddles series has sparked a citywide buying frenzy, with long queues forming outside many McDonald's restaurants from early Wednesday morning.
Many social media users reported delays and confusion when collecting their orders. Some said they had to wait more than two hours for their meals, while others reported waiting one hour and 15 minutes, with crowds still lining up for breakfast at around noon.
According to McDonald's, the Chocolate McGriddles series is an original creation by McDonald's Hong Kong.
The pancake buns are infused with dark chocolate chips, offering a rich cocoa aroma that complements the savory combination of sausage, cheese and folded egg to create a distinctive sweet-and-savory flavor. The pancakes also retain the signature embossed "M" pattern that has become a hallmark of McGriddles.
