Since June, Europe, one of the regions with the lowest air-conditioning penetration rates in the world, has been hit by widespread extreme heat, with temperatures in many areas exceeding 40°C. Without air conditioners, "enjoying cool air" became a luxury for most people. Although Chinese-made air conditioners are rapidly filling the gap, they have been snapped up at an unprecedented speed almost at the same time.
Among them, Midea Group, a company from the Greater Bay Area (GBA), developed a mobile split air conditioner specifically for the European market, which has nearly sold out across Europe.
To quickly make up the shortfall, Midea switched from sea freight to the China-Europe Railway Express to deliver air conditioners to Europe promptly. The head of Midea's air-conditioning business in Europe noted that in this year's European air-conditioning sales season, Midea is expected to sell over 200,000 units, a 150% increase from last year.
"We have conducted years of localized technology development for the European market, with over 100 iterations just for the localized adaptation of air-conditioning mounting brackets. The explosive popularity of Midea air conditioners in Europe this time has made more Europeans aware that there is not only 'Made in China' but also 'Innovated in China' and Chinese brands," said a relevant person in charge of Midea's air-conditioning division.
