Chief Executive John Lee announced on his social media page today (June 23) that he and his team visited the historic and cultural district of Sanfang Qixiang in Fuzhou last night (June 22). They experienced firsthand the promotion of this historical and cultural site, hailed as a "living fossil of the Lifang system," and closely observed the unique features of the Ming and Qing dynasty architectural complex, gaining an understanding of the current state of historical site preservation.
During the visit, Lee and his team also visited the Fujian Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo Park. This month is also "Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Month," and the team engaged in in-depth exchanges with local officials, sharing experiences in the preservation, revitalization, and integration of intangible cultural heritage with the tourism industry. The team also visited a local shop with over 100 years of history to learn how they promote cultural tourism through traditional snacks.
Lee stated that at the fifth meeting of the "Fujian-Hong Kong Cooperation Conference" held yesterday, Fujian and Hong Kong reached an agreement to expand cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation, including cultural and artistic exchanges and the joint development of "multi-stop" combined tours. It is hoped that the two places can jointly attract more tourists through convenient air and high-speed rail networks, revitalize cultural and tourism resources, encourage the industry to launch more joint tour products, and enhance the development of the tourism industry.
