A poll released on June 21 shows that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approval rating has dropped sharply, falling from 40.5% in early March to 29.4%.
The survey, conducted jointly by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the think tank Agam Lab between June 17 and 20, polled 3,644 respondents. The results indicate that the Israeli government is facing a crisis of public trust. Although Netanyahu has claimed that Israel has achieved results in its military operations, 72.5% of respondents said they do not believe him, and 56.4% rated his performance in military operations as "failed".
Netanyahu's ruling Likud party said on June 10 that the prime minister will run in the next Knesset elections and seek to continue in office. The next parliamentary elections are expected to be held in October this year.
