World Cup debutants Cape Verde are making history. Both Uruguay and Spain have previously won the World Cup. With this result, Cape Verde have now held two World Cup champions to consecutive draws.
Cape Verde's legendary goalkeeper Vozinha had helped his side hold tournament favorites Spain to a 0-0 draw. However, after the match, he broke down in tears, saying it was a great regret that his mother could not be there to watch him play due to visa issues.
On June 21 local time, Vozinha's mother, Ana, successfully obtained her visa with the help of many parties, traveled across the ocean to the US, and watched her son's match in person. She also expressed her gratitude to the Chinese fans who had shown concern for her situation.
According to public reports, Lin Jie, a Chinese businessman from Wenzhou who operates a business in Cape Verde, provided assistance during Ana's visa application process. Vozinha's cousin works at Lin Jie's shop.
