The Hong Kong Observatory issued the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal at 12:55 pm today (June 18), indicating that heavy rain with an hourly rainfall exceeding 70 millimeters has been recorded or is expected in widespread areas of Hong Kong, and the rain is likely to persist.
Some citizens posted on social media that flooding was severe on Yick Yuen Road in Tuen Mun. At around 12:40 pm, a vehicle was submerged in the "river." Photos from the scene showed that the water level had risen above the steering wheel and was almost high enough to cover the car roof, making it extremely dangerous. The trunk door of the private car was wide open, and the driver was forced to abandon the vehicle and flee.
