The England team, currently participating in the US–Mexico–Canada World Cup, recently faced an unexpected incident in Kansas City, US. A vehicle transporting the team's training equipment was broken into, and some items, including boots and footballs, were stolen. According to sources in the UK, most of the stolen equipment had been recovered as of June 13 local time.
Per UK sources, England had been scheduled to train in Kansas City on the afternoon of June 13, with the equipment meant to have arrived in advance. The theft occurred while the transport vehicle was en route from Florida to the Swope Soccer Village training ground in Kansas City, where the England team is based.
It is understood that the stolen items did not include players' custom-made match boots or any equipment "crucial to the matches." The Kansas City police stated in an interview that they had responded to the scene on the evening of June 12 and launched an investigation. According to reports, two suspects have been arrested, and most of the stolen equipment has been recovered.
England will play their first match of this World Cup on June 17 local time, facing Croatia.
