A female intern doctor at Caritas Medical Centre, who is also a social media influencer (KOL) known as "Intern Doctor Angel," was recently exposed for engaging in improper conduct. Following verification and investigation, the police arrested her last night (June 12) on suspicion of "obtaining access to a computer with dishonest intent" and took her to Cheung Sha Wan Police Station for detention.
Angel was released on bail today (June 13) and left the Police Station at approximately 4:26 pm. A reporter from DotDotNews observed on the scene that Angel, wearing a cap and a mask, left the police station, accompanied by her lawyer, and immediately boarded a private car. She did not speak throughout the process and appeared to be in good mental condition.
Earlier, Angel was exposed for using an X-ray machine to take images of her own knee, asking her boyfriend, a doctor on duty at Tuen Mun Hospital, to travel across districts to assist her at Ruttonjee Hospital (where she was interning at the time), and using another person's login credentials to access the clinical system and browse patient records from Tuen Mun Hospital.
The police said last night that after verifying the situation with the Hospital Authority (HA) and investigating the relevant login and access records, they confirmed that the female intern doctor had, between May 13 and May 14, used another person's account without authorization to log into the HA's computer system at Caritas Medical Centre and browse patient data belonging to Tuen Mun Hospital.
The Hospital Authority issued a statement announcing that the intern doctor had been dismissed. In its statement, the HA stated that it has extremely high standards for doctors' professional conduct, behaviour, and discipline, reiterating that all doctors serving patients in public hospitals must possess both medical competence and professional ethics.
